In the united states texas, california and oklahoma provides the largest inmate populations incarcerated in private facilities. (zito) Most opponents of privatization claim that there are no true efficiency gains from privatization. They feel that private prison jave a well documented history of inefficient security, poorly trained and underpaid workers, high turnover rates with little benefits and unprofessional and unsupervised treatment of inmates. (mcfarland) For more than twenty years the private corrections industry has continued to grow. More agencies are choosing to outsource their inmates.
