In ads across the internet, on television, on billboards, on print media, and on the radio healthcare marketing is a normal part of healthcare operations for our neighbours to the south. But in canada with it"s single-payer publicly funded healthcare system, healthcare marketing is not something you see on an everyday basis. This is true for a few reasons, first and foremost is the structure of the system itself. Rather than private clinics and hospitals competing for patients to spend their money or insurance benefits we have a government run monopoly of healthcare where every citizen or legal resident is entitled to access publicly funded healthcare. If you turn on american television for example you will be bombarded with ads for pharmaceuticals whereas in canada pharmaceutical companies cannot legally market their products directly to consumers.
