Document Summary

Anta02h3 introduction to anthropology: society, culture & language. This course is an introduction to socio-cultural anthropology. Socio-cultural anthropology is a wide-ranging discipline that includes the study of human diversity, social organization, histories, and community life, as well as values, worldviews, and cultural meanings. Anthropology challenges us to consider new ways of understanding a range of human experiences. Anthropology is often seen as the study of other places, peoples, and cultures. We will do this through our course readings and also through a series of experiential projects throughout the semester. Evaluation: (1) regular attendance & respectful participation in tutorials. (10%) please come to class prepared to discuss the assigned readings, to ask relevant questions about readings & lectures and to respectfully listen and respond to others" questions and comments. You will have periodic homework assignments to turn in during tutorials, your tutorial leader will discuss these details with you.
