Not effective when: employees are underdeveloped; employees are highly skilled. When changes require a new vision; a clear direction is needed. Not effective when: underdeveloped employees; leader is not credible. To heal rifts in a team or to motivate people during stressful circumstances. Effective when used with other styles, tasks routine, performance adequate, counselling, helping and in managing conflict. Ineffective when: performance is inadequate and there is a crisis. To build in or buy consensus, or to get input from valuable employees. Negative; least effective; flexibility is hardest; people lack motivation (how does any of this matter?) Leadership and management styles builds trust respect and commitment by getting people to share their ideas; staff are realistic. Develops people for the future (long- term development for employees)
