We need each other, and the sooner we learn that the better for us all . 6 to 11 years industry v. inferiority. 3 to 5 years initiative v. guilt. 2 to 3 years autonomy v. shame & doubt. Birth to 2 years trust v. mistrust. One sense of personal identity is a dynamic process that continues through the stages of a persons life and is constantly changing as a result of new experiences and new information. Identity status of a person is based on whether or not a person is actively engaging in two related process crisis and commitment. Crisis: a phase of identity development during which a person is actively engaged in a process of choosing among meaningful alternatives .
