The purpose of this simulation was to purify the two allotted proteins from a complex protein mixture using proteinlab. The protein that i was given were 3 and 9. In order to purify proteins, different purification techniques can be applied such as gel filtration, ion exchange, hydrophobic interaction and many more. We need to choose a technique, based on the enzymatic activity information of the protein of interest, that gives us a high yield of isolated protein and is also cost effective. At first, the crude mixture was subjected to 2d-sds page and immunoblot to visualize the location of protein of interest and obtain the ph and mass. During the investigation, the 2d-sds page is used to verify the purity of the protein after each method. It is very crucial to note that when the protein is separated, it must be enzymatically active in order to be studied. And the specific activity should increase too as we are removing impurities.
