However, emancipation created a much di erent future for the jewish people allowing them to change their way of life as jews. After emancipation, almost half of the jews became secular while the other half became known as traditionalists. As time went on, more and more denominations of. As a result, jews became more and more involved with society and keeping tradition became a self-assertive and self-conscious e ort. The group of jews that wanted to remain isolated and continue practicing their ways with strict dedication became known as traditionalist which later became ultra-orthodox or more appropriately called haredi.
