Document Summary

William shakespeare is considered the greatest poet and english playwright of all time. In today"s society, women"s physical appearance is significant. In my mistress" eyes are nothing like the sun , william shakespeare proves that love is far more precious than beauty. Shakespeare portrays a realistic image of his mistress. He emphasizes the importance of a women"s personality rather than physical appearance. Most love poems portray women as an example of perfection. Still to this day, women are expected to live up to certain values, and they must look a certain way in order to be loved. Writing love poems during william shakespeare"s time was common. Also, it was common to write about and focus mainly on physical beauty. Rather than focus on appearances, william shakespeare writes a love poem that has a deeper meaning, where looks are no longer important. He goes against the usual style of love poems (kasar 170).
