PLG 120 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Brockton Village, Bocce, Bailo
Document Summary
The mccormick park, mccormick arena, and mccormick recreation centre form a trifecta of multi-use public space on the residential streets of toronto"s brockton village. Although the two adjacent buildings and park are humble and unassuming at first glance, residents of all ages consider the area a community staple. At 5:32 pm on october 2nd, a clear and warm fall saturday, i sat in mccormick park and observed the environment and surrounding buildings. Upon arriving, i first noticed the large recreation center located on sheridan avenue. The entrance faces east with a large flagpole, flower beds , and a bike share station. The two-story recreation center is made from what seems to be burnt clay brick. In the front, you are met with panes of glass and silver doors to enter the community center. The centre offers a pool, a gym, a daycare centre, and basketball courts inside.
