1024 Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: Carbon Tetrachloride, The Fluid, Pressure Measurement
Document Summary
Manometers are pressure gauging devices using columns of different liquids. The fluid whose pressure is to be determined is called the metered fluid, while the other fluid is called the manometer fluid. These devices can be used to gauge the pressures of liquids as well as gases. Manometers have connecting u-shaped tubes containing different fluids. An inverted u-tube manometer is used for measuring pressure differences in liquids. It consists of an associate inverted u tube containing a lightweight liquid. This is often used to observe the differences of low pressures between 2 points wherever higher accuracy is needed. It typically consists of associate air cock at prime of mano-metric liquid kind, The space above the liquid in the manometer is filled with air that can be admitted or expelled through the tap on the top to adjust the level of the liquid in the manometer: single column manometer.
