If a module is shaded in a string, then bypass diodes are used to pass the current around the shaded cell so that there is a continuity od the string. The consequence of this would be that the string will operate at a lower voltage so the resulted power would be smaller than the maximum power represented on the. It is important to understand test conditions because it helps us evaluate module performance. We can evaluate module performance by accurately comparing solar panels to a fixed set of conditions. High temperatures reduce the voltage output of an array, there is a slightly increase in current, but the net result is still a decrease in overall power output. We will notice in the graph that the open-circuit voltage will decrease. If the irradiance is increased, then the current will increase also causing power to increase proportionally.
