Till now we were discussing about the first type of ngo. A well-known example of an ngo of this type is the centre for science and. A factory in trivandrum was emptying all their waste materials into the surrounding water bodies. The lakes, ponds, the sea, the wells all were affected . people using the water had all kinds of diseases. The organization had not been able to get the factory to change its polluting practices in any other way. Then they picked up sample of water from the water bodies and then submitted the results of the chemical analysis to the court . The court finally gave the verdict that the factory should stop dumping the waste or should treat the waste before dumping it into the water bodies. In the third group were those volunteers who saw themselves more as activists than other ngos did.
