Specify a large population that you might want to study and describe the type numeric measurement that you will collect (examples: a count of things, the height of people, a score on a survey, the weight of something). Outliers are defined as values that do not fit with the rest of the data and lies out of the normal range. Statistical analyses are often affected by outliers and therefore it is important that any presence of outliers is alerted. Outliers as yakir, 2011 states are identified with the help of the inter-quartile range (iqr) (p. 33). Specifying a large population i would like to study. I collected the sample weight of 85 domestic pigs and i would determine the outliers of these weights. Moreover, the mean could be affected resulting in misleading interpretations (frost, n. d).
