Hypha: long branch filaments: used for absorption of food. Mycelia: groups of hyphae together above ground and below. Some can produce harmful or useful compounds. Plant diseases: 80% are caused by fungi, ex. corn smut, chestnut blight, ergots: harms the plant and harms the animals that eat the infected material. A mycosis is a fungal disease seen in an animal.
