The pattern is counted out as slow-quick-quick-slow or (2+2+1+1+2) Form: tango-romanza which can be either instrumental or vocal. Tempo: moderate quadruple meter, with characteristic tango rhythms mode: minor. Function: classic orchestral tango, performed for dancers and for listeners. Classic orquestra tipica, a type of ensemble popular unitl the 1940s. Strong and regular rhythm meant to accompany dancing. Tango ensembles consisted of piano, violin and bandoneon.
