Learned about geosyncline hypothesis all continents were anticlines all ocean basins were synclines, continents didnt really move that much. Attempted to show evidence that continents may have movedi in the past thus they still moving today but too slow. All continents used to be in 1 = pangaea. First data collected was the jigsaw fit of the continents. Rafting maybe aniamsl jumped on logs, then loated across the ocean. Isthmian links bridges across the continents, not true bc no evidence in the ocean. Island stepping stones tiny island between diferent continents. Rocks from appalachian are similar to british isles and caledonian mountains. Found glaciers in areas where now you cant find glaciers. All southern continents were part of same continent, glacier covered that one area. At some point ny was hotter (equatorial climate belts) Hypothesis the spin of earth caused pangaea to break aparat, continents moved by plowing through oceanic lithosphere. Earth"s rotation is not fast enough to move continents.
