Document Summary

Charles and the parliamentarians prepared for war: people in london were becoming more involved in riots and demonstrations and violence was increasing. Most were against the religious and constitutional policies of charles. Ordinary citizens began to have massive street demonstrations. There were five original members he wanted to charge with treason, but there was a sixth who was involved. Charles drafted articles of treason against six members of parliament. Once he failed, the people of london became angrier and supported parliament. He fled to hampton court away from london: every county in england except wales and two other counties, sent petitions supporting parliament. Charles was losing support in england, scotland, and ireland. Not many in england wanted to go to war. June 1642 the 19 propositions rejection made it very clear there was going to be a war. Royalists and parliamentarians begin preparing for war. Money is a necessity and people to fight.
