It"s not just that there are two sides to the story, but that each side thinks they are moral and the other side is the freakin devil. Each side believes that their actions are just despite the harm done to others. Cognitive dissonance - when there is mental stress or discomfort for an individual who believes in two contrasting ideals, or when they are confronted by facts that suggest their beliefs are false or wrong. You can gradually slip towards the behavior you thought was wrong. You can distance yourself from your actions - this was uncommon i don"t usually do this . Predation - premeditated violence - means to an end. Dominance - deadliest type - intermale aggression - not only interested in victory but in the conquest itself - people enjoy fighting. Revenge - disabled empathy - work as deterrent. Sadism - the joy of hurting - enjoy violence not just fighting.
