Later, assimilate them: any practice of culture was forbidden, meant as a direct path towards citizenship. Pushes to leave an originating country: poverty, war, drought, famine, government problems, religion. Invention of the asian american: america started to encourage immigration from all parts of asia, denying right to naturalize. Laws: 1875: page act barred chinese women, prostitution, having nonwhite children, immigration act of 1924: banned entry of nearly all asian group.
