Population growth is limited by agricultural resources- malthus. Means of production- agriculture varies based on location. Could get several types of crops in china. Different types of agriculture have different types of productivity. Culture- plays a role in food choices and food preferences (people recognize different things for being food in different areas based on their location and culture) Class structure and relations of production- based on society, education, culture. Critiques: engles- asking where does it prove that the productivity of land determines the population (there is no data, it is an assertion). Even is malthus is correct and the productivity of the land can only increase in arithmetic production, there is still one variable - technology- that people can use to get themselves out of any problem.
