Eniac: electronic numerical integrator and computer, filled 50-foot long room, weighed 30 tons, microchip in computer today is more power than it. Grace hopper: joined navy in ww2, first to crested programing language. Showed that there is a market for these machines. Widely available and standardized software promotes need for personal computer. Ease of gui explodes potential; user base.
