Document Summary

Descent with modification darwin: change passed on through generations. Survival of the fittest came later, darwin thought it was not quite an accurate term. Fitness is measured by how well an organism can reproduce. Selection does the choosing of which traits are more desirable. Inheritability passes the trait onto the next generation. The raw materials for evolution are variable traits. Monomorphic: having only one trait in a population, meaning evolution cannot occur. Some traits are more prevalent in new generations compared to older generations because they are more desirable. Traits must be based in genes which can then be passed from one generation to the next. Plasticity: traits are expressed differently depending on the environment (natural) selection is not evolution. Genetic variation is being reduced by extensive use of gmos. The process of hereditary reorganization of wild animals and plants into domestic and cultivated forms according to the interests of people.
