Basic christian beliefs + how things w/jesus work. Doctrine of the trinity, 3 parts are inextricable: human nature. God and human kind are estranged, had issues with each other. Covenant was spelled out so that estrangement could be overcome. People kept missing the mark, this is translated as sin. Greek translated to english = miss the mark. Christians believed divine aid was needed to reorient humans not to miss the mark, bring people back to covenant relationship: christ. What set them apart from jewish and pagan peers. Pagans saw it as human will/mind to fix themselves. Jews believed in living out the torah, christians thought living by christ fixed them, believed christ was god in the flesh, completely god +human. Be the revelation humankind needed to restore their relationship, by believing in this: ethics. How to live in right relation w/your neighbor, parallel to living with god. Christians put high emphasis on love + mercy.
