Slide 32- upon attachment to the epithelial cells the bacteria induce phagocytosis. Bacteria replicate in the phagosome and then is release from the infected cell spreading infection to other cells. Infected cells trigger inflammation that causes the majority of the tissue damage. Infection starts in urethra and expand to the vas deferens (men) or starts in the cervix and spread to the fallopian tubes (women) common and easy to treat and diagnose, and cause lots of damage. Slide 34- hiv is difficult to get but it is an epidemic.
