At the end they receive freedom dues usually food and other provisions and sometimes land too. In 1600 100000 people traveled to chesapeake bay as indentured servants. Indentured servants could not marry, if they committed a crime or disobeyed masters, they found their terms lengthened by years: to entice more migrants, virginia company started headright system, in which those who paid their own passage to. Virginia received fifty acres of land and additional fifty for each servant or family member.
