The ways of thinking, the ways of acting and the material objects that together form a persons way of life. *non material culture is about ideas that we have* college, idea of american dream, political ideals etc. Cultural relativism- the principle that an individual humans beliefs and activities should be understood in terms of his or her own culture. Cultural shock- personal disorientation when experiencing an unfamiliar way of life. Society- organized interactions of people who usually share a nation us is both a society and a nation. Symbols- anything that carries a particular meaning recognized by people who share a culture. Language- a system of symbols that allows people to communicate with one another. Values- broad guidelines for social living; values support beliefs; culturally defined standards.
