Intervention/imperialism - mckinley: wants the war between spain and cuba to end, he considers the possibility of exercising the monroe doctrine and invading cuba. He decides the us will engage and attempt to colonize the philippines. Lend lease 1941 - prevent the us from providing non military assistant that were deemed vital to us security/us interest: us would not send troops or advisors but that they would send armaments, ammunition, etc.
