Films from all of the world were circulating in the us, wasn"t just domestic films. From original idea to costumes/set design/actors/crew members to final realization as completed product. Process of supplying films to the places they will be shown. Always a number of people involved in distribution (promotion, selling, etc. ) Process of showing the finished film to audiences. One person at a time could view a film in one of edison"s. In the uk, films were shown on fairgrounds and the music hall (their version of vaudeville) Ex: whitsuntide fair at preston + comic pictures in high street. Around 1902, simple exhibition venues designed to watch movies. Converted from store-fronts, empty rooms, empty buildings. Audiences= ~ 50-100 ppl, early entrepreneurs would have a barker (megaphone) to attract people. Movies were still silent but might have some live performance (piano, etc. ) Programs changed everyday bc audiences wanted new material. Increased demand = new ways to distribute.
