CMS 315M Lecture Notes - Lecture 15: John Bunyan, Street Gutter, Plastic Surgery
Document Summary
Have more stable romantic relationships - stay married more. More likely to do good things (e. g. donate blood) More liked by peers and teachers, and are more popular. When you come home from work happy, by bedtime your partner is happier too. People in sunnier climates are no happier. Attractive people are no happier but cosmetic surgery makes people happier. Moving to a new place doesn"t make you happier. Being considered good looking increases men"s happiness more than it does women"s. You tend to be happier if you think you"re good looking, rather than if you actually, objectively speaking, are. Younger people are less happy than older folks (up to 65) - as long as there is acceptance of limitations imposed by age older people accept that they aren"t as spritely as they used to be. Money does buy happiness (but only up to a point k) Happy people have stronger social relationships; participation in social networks makes people happier.
