Restructuring, most chiefs and so forth were left in place, unless they fought the spanish, then they were killed. So indigenous elite would continue to control the indigenous people. The conquistadores could gain a portion of the land from each village. Land is useless unless you have someone to work the land. Indigenous people were required to give at least one day a week to serve their conquistador. Starting in 1524, the church made it a requirement that the spanish had to marry an indigenous woman, in order to add stability to the area. The offspring would be influenced by the father, helping spread spanish culture. Continues for such a long period of time that now mexico is considered a mestizo nation. Ends in 1570 because the church thinks it"s an exploitative system. Repartimieneto a system by which the crown allowed certain colonists to recruit indigenous peoples for forced labour. This one very much reflects a save system.
