Document Summary

The beginning of the class clarified the reasons why workers prefer unions. For example, power of group, equity, legal rights, protection from firing etc. In the group discussion, we weighed the pro"s and con"s of all the option. The presenting group arrived to the same conclusion as i did in my analysis, it is best to cease operations at lcf. I had not given much thought to option 3, slowing down unionization. I did not think it was a viable possibility since the vote for unionization was the next day. The sensitivity analysis realized the shortcomings of the recommended options and explained how to tackle the losses effectively to have minimum impact on the organization"s finances. Moving telemarketing to a spanish speaking geographical region like mexico or latin america will incur large costs. Not all workers would like to relocate to those regions. Moreover, the adjustment for the organization was not smooth when it moved to san francisco.
