Christopher browning = leading historian in the us. Came across interrogations that american authorities had done to people who were involved in the mass killings of jews. Interested in how nazi"s were able to do the work of mass killings. Has looked at a lot of historical documents, one of the prime scholars of. Middle age family men from working class backgrounds. Enlisted to carry out mass murder in poland. Were given the opportunity to not have to participate in killing jews, and could step out ** why browning was so intrigued by them: wanted to know how many did. The men had already been engaged in so much brutalization that they had become immune to it. Browning thinks that the jews were clearly dehumanized. It wasn"t the beliefs that people had about jews but he just knows that they have been dehumanize and place outside the circle of humanity.
