The deteriorated speech signal resulting from hearing loss robs the child of information regarding: form (phonology, syntax, morphology, content (semantics, use (pragmatics) Language delay: primary consequence of hearing loss. Children with hearing loss are not a homogenous group when it comes to language acquisition. There are several predictors of early expressive language development: Factors affecting language acquisition: child"s age, age of identification, cognitive status, presence of other disabilities. 3 key factors have been found to greatly impact speech and language outcomes for kids with hl: increased client diversity, early intervention, availability of cochlear implants.
