Septa stamps male or female to prevent identity fraud. Non-gender conforming people were often verbally harassed when they did not appear to match their pass. It also points people out and makes them more susceptible to danger. Rage protested very creatively (sometimes with drag shows in the station!) Septa quietly ended it"s sticker usage but did not acknowledge that it caused gender identity discrimination. The septa employee"s ability to judge gender identity by appearance is then compared to the use of sex-segregated public restrooms. Sex-identity discrimination: when you are discriminated against because of what your sex is or is assumed to be. This could also apply to men or women who simply look like the opposite sex. Transgender women of color are the most at risk for discrimination and violence. Murders are also reported with a very strong bias. They usually present people pre-transition (pictures/names) making it way less likely to those crimes to have proper witnesses and proper charges.
