Born in 1769 on the island of corsica (mediterranean sea). Usually associated with italy, only taken by france a few years before his birth c. ii. Father was pretty wealthy, had nobles as ancestors c. ii. 1. c. ii. 2. Sent him to the french equivalent of west point.
