PSY 2810 Lecture Notes - Lecture 7: Content Validity, Predictive Validity, Face Validity
Document Summary
Construct validity the way we evaluate how appropriate an operational definition is. Content validity (logical)- whether the measure used as an operational definition makes sense to experts in the field. Height to measure intelligence the two are likely correlated, but only because as you get older you grow in height and intelligence. Face validity whether the measure appears even to non-experts to measure the construct. There are subjective validities they are a matter of opinion and they are often not relied on. Objective validities (predictive) whether the measure correlated with the other. Convergent validity when multiple measures of the same construct are highly correlated: does not require the measure to be previously validated.
