Democratic peace theory: democracies need a lot of consensus to go to war, democratic norms= require compromise, countries trade a lot with each other makes war very costly. Problems with peace theory: correlation and not causation, trade not actually, works for mature countries, democracy at end of bayonet if your interst is to have more allies, you are going to go to war.
