Economy - a cultural adaption to the environment that enables a group of humans to use the available resources to satisfy their needs and to thrive. Their are different modes of production from food forging to industrialism. Over years we have developed various economic strategies to survive in diverse environments. From foraging to industrial agriculture: a brief survey of food production. Food foraging - humans who subsist by hunting, fishing, and gathering plants to eat. This was before the domestication of plants and animals around 11 thousand years ago. Now only 250,000 people make their primary living from food foraging. These are the three adaptive strategies for food productions in nonindustrial societies. When food production came around it lead to more permanent human settlements. Pastoralism - a strategy for food production involving the domestication of animals. Horticulture - the cultivation of plants for subsistence through non intensive use of land and labor.
