This section of the course will focus on the area of advocacy. In this section we will discuss and apply skills that will allow you to better argue and advocate for the idea and causes you believe in. The concept of advocacy are rooted in the rhetorical tradition of ancient greece. Argument- is defines as a claim or conclusion supported by evidence and logical reasoning. Unfortunately, people often use the term argument to label any disagreement between two people. However, many of these arguments lack key components. Rhetoric is defined by aristotle as- the faculty of observing in any given case the available means of persuasion. Syllogisms- a set of propositions that are related to one another and draw a conclusion from the major and minor premises. Developed by kenneth burke the theory of dramatism attempts to explain the semantic dimension of language.
