Types of laws: common law- cases that have been resolved by various courts. Precedent- creates boundaries by which future cases must be decided. Once the precedent has been decided at a higher court all future lower courts in the jurisdiction have to rely on this precedent: constitutional law- the law that follows the u. s. constitution.
