Issued a law code to be distributed throughout mesopotamia. During ur iii, there was a sumerian renaissance. Resurge of sumerian literature, language, and culture. Babylonians assimilated a lot of sumerian culture. Marduk - storm god, top of hierarchy of gods. 60 minutes in an hour (math was base 60) Astronomical purposes were pragmatic, too computing compound interest and estimating building materials)
