Document Summary

Study of all aspects of human and non-human behavior. [ways to understand or gain knowledge about the world] Good, educated guess - not always correct despite their knowledge. Scientific approach (methods) apply to understand behavior. Empiricism - objective observations (to answer questions about behavior). Do not let feelings or emotions interject (no bias). Making our knowledge available to others to build upon. Submit claim to see if others agree with your conclusion. Be able to control situation + rule out factors. Quality of the evidence matches nature of the claim. [ways we fool ourselves into believing what is not true] We believe previous outcomes influence future ones. After a series of losses, the probability of a win is higher. Clusters of a single type of outcome don"t appear to be random. Keeping a streak = your next move appears to be more predictable. We give too much weight to confirmatory information. We should ask questions that falsify hypothesis.
