Transgender- gender identity differs from assigned sex at birth. Genderqueer- person whose gender is combination of genders. Heterosexual family is how society identifies legitimate kinship and familial obligations. Society defines all forms of sexuality and families that don"t fit ideal image are problematic. Encourage discrimination to favor heterosexuals and against homosexuals. Research question: in what ways do our social structures maintain heterosexism. Recognize one"s sexual orientation, gender identity or sex identity. To be open with it about themselves and others. Research question: who/what shapes definition of sexual orientation. Focused on behavior to legitimate scientific study of sexuality and avoid discussions of morality.
