- system that socially, economically, and ideologically benefits European
descendants over non-white
- whiteness is both system and identity
- important to distinguish b/w these two
- can be white person and fight against whiteness as system (beneficiary
vs signatory)

- political, social and economic power, as wells as symbolic power to
classify one group as normal and other groups as abnormal
