Synapse: where neurons connect: more enriching, more connections, transmission across synapse, receptors; open when, toxins become the replacement for natural chemicals, why it is so hard to get off of them, neurotransmitters, excitatory. Inhibitory: when we are anxious, these react to try to calm ourselves down. Long term potentiation: we can anticipate something coming, and use the skills we already have to alter our behavior; rats will go the long pathway if they know there is food at the end.
