Disease - body fat affects overall health. Adipocyes- fat cells - adipose tissue ( fat) all body fat cells. 30 billion fat cells - normal person. Obesity - increase of fat mass - fat cell growth not multiply. Hyperplasia- increase in number, from pre- adypocytes. 2 to 3 years old- increase in 1st year and plateau afterwards. 8 years- increase in female puberty- hormone levels change stays sme in males. White adipose tissue ( wat) stores energy, energy sources, protect, insulation. White - 1 droplet, larger than brown. Brown - small droplets (multilocular) infants- kidneys. Abdominal - increase cvd and diabetes risk factor subcutaneous- under skin visceral- around internal organs intraperitoneal - 80%, more in blood. Extraperitoneal- 20%, between abs, cav and abs. wall. Essential - sustain life, in bone marrow. Non essential - store fat and energy. 4 places: inter, intra, visceral, subcutaneous males: 12%, females: 15%
