Document Summary

Striated muscle contracts only if stimulated by nerve. When atp attaches to atp binding site, it splits and becomes adp + pi. Results in energy is cocked crossbridges (high energy state) When crossbridges attach to actin = inward movement and pull actins towards. Powerstroke: when actins are pulled to center. End of powerstroke is end of am1 complex. Automatically causes uncoupling of crossbridges and actin go back to normal position. Atpase causes atp to split and crossbridge is recocked. Made up of 2 chemicals: choline and acetate. When ach is released, destroyed as soon as depolarization occurs. Where nervous innervation is connected to muscle cell. Space b/w end of neuron and beginning of muscle cell membrane. Special region of muscle cell membrane under nervous component. In interstitial fluid that is b/w mep and junctional folds. Ach receptors found on tip of these folds. Act like ligand gated chemical channels that allow for depolarization.
