Document Summary

Pns divided into 2 divisions sensory and motor divisions. Visceral carry info from internal organs to cns. Motor division carry instruction to effector organs from cns. Somatic division control muscles internal organ function controlled by ans (autonomic nervous system) Hold things in place transfer nutrients to neuron clean up chemical imbalances. Act against invadens - like macrophages for cns. Ependymal cells line internal spaces of brain and spinal cord circulate cerebrospinal fluid (inside brain) Types of glial cells in pns satellite cells. Maintain neurons like astrocytes schwann cells create myelin sheaths in pns. A lot of transport of materials from cell body to axons and dendrites. Plasma membrane of cell body conducts potential and electrical signal differences. Dendrite- conducts electrical impulses towards cell body. Arises from cell body at an axon hillock it is long and conducts aways from cell body. Dendrites only conduct graded potentials which are small electrical charge differences. End of axons contain a chemical (neurotransmitter)
