Document Summary

Ex. cranial, facial bones, clavicle . are dense connective tissue not cartilage. Materials go back into general circulation from the tubual. Need to maintain calcium calcium physiology: transmission of impulses across nerve fibers. Balance of ions at all times: proper release of neurotransmitters at synaptic endings, contraction of muscles w/o calcium muscle can"t contract properly, coagulation of blood- 3 reactions require calcium to convert a to b and b to c. If calcium is absent sequence can"t occur: proper glandular secretions. Glands can"t release materials if calcium not present: cell division (mitosis) Ions that assist enzymes in catalysis to do job. Coenzyme- organic molecule: supply bone with calcium. Hormonal control of bone development and maintenance: parathormone and calcitonin. Parathormone- produced by parathyroid (small things on thyroid gland) 99% of calcium in body is in bone. Both hormones maintain blood calcium levels: growth hormone (gh) Liver gh stimulates it to create 2nd growth factor.
