Document Summary

Ligaments that hold joints together can be stretched or torn. Torn/ ruptured cartilage tear meniscus of knee joint. Dislocation luxation: dislocation occurs when bones are forced out of their normal position in a joint cavity. Dislocation is when bones are moved out of normal position. Occurs when ligaments are torn: reducing- trying to put bones back together. Inflammation of synovial bursa: can be caused by extensive tension placed on that bursa. Can also be caused by bacterial infection: ex. Aching joints and bursa around joint are infected. Most affected bursa is subacromial bursa p267, 8. 9: underneath shoulder and above humerus. Anytime humerus is moving causes tension, friction, stress and affects bursa: bursa is affected before joint. Tendonitis inflammation of tendon sheath ( special bursa that is elongated and surrounds long tendons) not necessarily tendon. Inflamed tendon sheath causes tendon to disintegrate, if too much pressure is put on it. Achilles tendon- miss step causes tendon to snap.
